The fifth annual Eco-Friendly Garden Tour draws experienced gardeners, those who like to putter in the garden, those who dream of having a garden, neighbors, landscapers, friends and anyone looking for a relaxing way to spend a Saturday touring the county’s creative and environmentally friendly residential gardens.
The gardens are located throughout Marin and feature native and drought tolerant plants, lawn conversions, edible landscapes, graywater systems, rain gardens and more.
Volunteers make this fun and informational event possible and are treated to an event t-shirt and two complimentary admission tickets (a $20 value!) in exchange for 3½ hours in the morning or afternoon greeting visitors at one of the gardens on the tour. No prior experience with gardening or greeting is required—just a desire to help out and be inspired.
The tour is Saturday, May 14, and the half-day shifts are 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you’d like to know more about volunteering and available sites, contact Wendy at the Marin Municipal Water District at (415) 945-1521 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
