The Marin Municipal Water District is partnering with California Youth Energy Services (CYES) to provide FREE “Green House Calls” for MMWD customers.
During each house call, two of CYES’s friendly and professional young staff, ages 15-22, evaluate the home for water and energy efficiency. The visits include free installation, as needed, of water- and energy-saving equipment including water-efficient showerheads, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and retractable clotheslines. Customers also receive a personalized report with suggested conservation actions to help further reduce water and power bills.
CYES is a program of the Rising Sun Energy Center, a non-profit organization that provides green job training for youth and adults who face barriers to employment. Last year CYES completed nearly 450 house calls for MMWD customers. To learn more about CYES, check out this video and visit www.risingsunenergy.org.
The house calls are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 4-6:30 p.m. and Sundays noon-6:00 p.m. through the first week of December. The visits take between 30 minutes and two hours. To schedule a free appointment, call (415) 532-7566.
