Bulbs in the Garden
This is the time of year to check the little nooks and crannies of your garden to find spots for planting spring bulbs. Daffodils, iris, tulips, crocus and so many other bulbs are available now. These low-water–use plants are low maintenance yet add such sunshine and sparkle to the garden when they emerge in the spring. To maximize the flower production, add a bit of bone meal to the soil, or try out the organic teas found at some of the farmers’ markets in Marin. Plan an early visit to local nurseries for a great selection and variety of bulbs. The small investment this fall will pay off in large dividends in spring.
