Join MMWD at the Marin County Fair and discover how you can help “Save Our Water.” The fair runs July 1 – 5, 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., at the county fairgrounds at 10 Avenue of the Flags in San Rafael.
We’ll be there along with the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and North Marin Water District as part of the Save Our Water special exhibit. Save Our Water is a statewide public education program designed to encourage Californians to make water conservation an everyday habit. Look for the exhibit just past the main gate entry, and drop by to get great tips for saving water at home. The first 1,000 families through the main gate on opening day will receive free bags with Save Our Water hats, posters, decals and shower timers.
MMWD is also helping to make the Marin County Fair the “Greenest County Fair on Earth.” Landscaping at the fairgrounds is irrigated by recycled water from MMWD’s Las Gallinas Valley Recycling Plant, saving potable water. Recycled water is also used for toilet flushing in the new restrooms at the Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium and Lagoon Park, and MMWD rebates helped support the installation of water-free urinals and water-efficient toilets.
When you visit the fair, remember to “be green” and bring your reusable water bottle to fill up on free, refreshing MMWD water from the fairgrounds’ drinking fountains!
