Let me introduce myself: I am the new Volunteer Coordinator at Marin Municipal Water District. I grew up a city girl in Boston before migrating to the sweet mountains of Colorado, where I was promptly bitten by the nature bug. The itch for travel, higher education, and a path guided by social and environmental justice led me to the Audubon Expedition Institute, where I received a Masters in environmental education. For the past 3 ½ years I worked as the community outreach manager at Friends of the Urban Forest in San Francisco.
MMWD is in a unique position to connect people with the Earth. Your watershed, more than anything else, defines your ecosystem. I am thrilled to be a part of this organization that can provide people with the incredible opportunity to explore their relationship with each other, with the land, and with the water. I look forward to working with as many residents as possible, to nurture local leaders, and to help build community through sense of place.
I invite you to share your thoughts on stewardship, environmental education, and all things related to natural resources. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 415-945-1169, or leave a comment below. Better yet, join us for one of these upcoming opportunities!
